Takoma,
NW in Washington, DC: Takoma is located in the Northwest
section of DC, bordering the City of Takoma Park, Maryland.
Dating back to the late 19th century, it is one of the
historic neighborhoods in Washington. Takoma, D.C., along
with Takoma Park Maryland, was conceived as one of the
first three railroad accessible suburbs to downtown Washington.
Over its history, the adjoining cities have worked to maintain
their charm and character.
It is our pleasure to be a part of the renaissance
in the area in DC. In addition to a long list
of homes that developers have renovated in Takoma, the
Katz Eco living cooperative across from the metro was recently
finished and the Cedar Crossing condominiums are being
completed, just around the corner from the metro. Other
changes in the area will be discussed during the groundbreaking
ceremony.

In Maryland, Historic
Takoma, Inc.’s website www.historictakoma.org describes
the community well. “Takoma Park is perhaps best known
to the general public for its small town atmosphere and pleasant,
tree shaded neighborhoods of stately Victorian mansions and
Sears bungalows of the 1920's. Behind this quiet façade
lies an almost strident activism on the part of its residents
to preserve the best attributes of a small community of some
18,000 residents.
We are dedicated to being a good neighbor and
a productive member and we are looking forward to a long
term relationship with the community. We will give
back through our participation in such programs
as “X-Mas in April” and other pro-bono projects. |
