Chevy Chase, MD - Residential Addition
Brief Explanation of the Scope
of Work
The client, a couple who had
just sent their youngest daughter off to college, wanted
to remodel their kitchen and add a screened in porch.
An architect friend of theirs had drawn up a set of
plans. The original kitchen was old with built in cabinets.
It was also chopped up.
Unusual Constraints/Challenges & Creative
Solutions
Our initial involvement was to do some value engineering
changing a concrete slab porch floor to a framed floor
with mahogany boards. The porch is built of clear stained
Douglas fir. A new door opening was created between
the porch and the dining room.
The kitchen tile floor has radiant electric heating
to supplement the new cast iron baseboard.
Overall Results
The overall
look is cheerful and warm, creating a new focus for
entertaining family and friends.
