Foxhall, DC - Master Bathroom
NARI CotY "Grand" Award Winner 2003
Brief Explanation of the Scope
of Work
The challenge of this job was
to transform an existing his & her bathroom into
one that emphasizes a greater level of intimacy for
the couple.
Unusual Constraints/Challenges & Creative Solutions
We removed the two separate doors leading to each
room and enclosed a small outside hall to unify the
space. We provided glass French doors as the new access
from the master bedroom. Upon entering the bathroom,
the owners are faced with a dramatic elevation that
incorporates glass block, custom trim work, bold colors
and an antique mirror.
The new shower design helps to integrate the his and
her bathroom into a dynamic space that afforded the
customers a balance of private and common area. As
you will notice from the photographs, both vanities
with their accompanying mirrors are complimentary but
distinct.
This bathroom has four distinct areas, each with its
own feel and purpose. In discussing how the clients
would use their redesigned bathroom area, we took special
care to design the lighting to allow for more intimate
as well as utilitarian moods.
Overall Results
Superior craftsmanship
is apparent throughout the bath. From the trim package
designed to accentuate
the high ceilings and semi division between his and
hers to the intricate tile design, skilled trades brought
this project together to successful completion.
