Sheppard Park, DC - Bathroom Suite
Brief Explanation of the Scope
of Work
This customer came to us with
the goal of transforming a 1970s master bedroom suite
with an open layout into a traditional suite with higher
quality finishes and an air bubble soaking tub.
We took great care to integrate the adjacent master
bedroom with the master bath so the two spaces compliment
each other. The bedroom is soft and cozy, whereas the
bathroom is crisp and spa-like.
Unusual Constraints/Challenges & Creative Solutions
The symmetry of the various elements needed precise
and quality construction. The many vertical and horizontal
visual elements play off each other. These elements
include: bead board wainscoting, a tall linen closet,
glass shower doors, recessed lighting, three head light
sconce and inset Jerusalem bone and Giallo Reale Antique
polished marble with an undulated surface on the bathroom
floor and shower. The side-by-side “kohler Memories” pedestal
sinks in the bead board alcove required careful layout
and adjusting to achieve the intended old world look.
Another challenge was to design and build an asymmetrical
custom linen cabinet around a new radiator in the corner.
We constructed the cabinet with four doors, one with
metal caning to cover the radiator and three others
to conceal storage. The floor is heated with an electric “warm
tile” system.
Overall Results
Our customers were very pleased with the final result,
the attention to detail and the symmetry of the four
bathroom zones –shower, tub, sink and toilet.
They also loved how well it integrated with the new
bedroom.
