Bethesda, MD - Master
Bathroom
Brief Explanation of the Scope
of Work
This master bathroom was the
centerpiece of a larger addition. It includes a custom
made double vanity, shower with body-sprays, skylight
and five windows.
Unusual Constraints/Challenges & Creative Solutions
Our primary challenge
was that the master bathroom had to be partially
built out over a room containing
a swimming pool. Also, coordinating between several “eye
leading” finishes tested our management of subs
and staff.
Structurally, we had to build in a large beam the
length of the room below so the bathroom could be supported.
We met the challenge of all the horizontal and vertical
lines with careful and repeated measuring, leveling
and meetings.
The creative additions were the use of skylights,
several mirrors to enlarge the space visually, glass
tile to add color and drama, cool light fixtures, custom
vanities and funky wallpaper.
The top three key products used were: Grohe fixtures,
Corian counters and Interstile glass tile.
Overall Results
The first comment our
photographer made upon coming into this room was, “this will get published
in a magazine.” The successful integration of
many lines and shapes was achieved by demanding the
highest standards of craftsmanship.
