Brief Explanation of the Scope of Work

We renovated a large, but largely builder grade and dated master bathroom into a luxurious and elegant private retreat.

Unusual Constraints/Challenges & Creative Solutions

The bathroom is a relatively large one and it was challenging to effectively utilize all of the space. Key improvements to the fit, finish and layout make each inch feel purposeful and elegant.

With the exception of the shower, which was a bit small, we maintained most of the general layout of the bathroom. Reversing the swing of the door into the bedroom allowed us to widen the shower and to align the shower and toilet room walls.

Improvements to the space include:
• Cherry Cabinetry and trims, custom built to our specifications by a local millworker include matching tub apron board. Finished cabinetry material frames the mirrors and visually connects the entire elevation of cabinetry at either side of the door to the vestibule. This bathroom features a large amount of cabinetry storage, a priority for the homeowners. There are even cabinets in the toilet room.
• Extra Jerusalem Gold stone tile was purchased and hand selected for continuity of color throughout. Includes floor, shower surround and tile wainscoting.
• Matching 3 CM Jerusalem Gold stone counters, stone shower curb and stone tub deck.
• The stone tub deck visually extends beneath the shower’s glass enclosure to create a bench seat.
• We created a formal look to the shower by dropping and tiling the soffit. Custom frameless glass shower enclosure shows off the tile.
• Plenty of lights including recessed, wall mounted sconces and decorative surface mounted ceiling lights.
• Kohler whirlpool tub, Kohler sinks, Grohe faucets and shower/tub valves, volume controls and hand-shower and a Toto toilet.
• We also replaced the doors from the bedroom vestibule with full light frosted doors to allow light to filter from the bathroom windows to this area.

Overall Results

Care was taken through every step of the design and construction process to create a unique and luxurious bathroom.
We and the homeowners think that the intensive attention to detail during the design and construction process shows in the finished product.
