Dupont Circle, DC - Whole House Remodel
Brief Explanation of the Scope of Work
The owner of this circa 1890
brick row house hired us to completely remodel this
two-unit house and restore it to its original single
family configuration. This entry foyer includes a set
of custom mahogany doors, a gas fireplace and ebonized
hardwood floors. The custom entry door has a natural
finish on the exterior with brass hardware while the
interior has a matching ebony finish with polished
chrome hardware.
Unusual Constraints/Challenges & Creative Solutions
Beyond the entry foyer is this warmly lit den and entertainment
room. The Tuscan faux-stucco painted finish on all
the walls is tastefully lighted with halo low-voltage
recessed fixtures, which are also used throughout the
rest of the house.
The second floor living room has the same ebonized
floors, gas fireplace and crisp Hollywood glitz detailing.
Not shown is the adjacent three-level stairlevel that
was completely rebuilt with steel substructure to reverse
sagging and allow for an open stair elevation.
In the master bedroom, a wall of custom maple built-ins
was added on the west wall. New Pella windows were
installed.
