Rockville, MD -
Kitchen Remodel

Brief Explanation of the Scope of Work
This custom kitchen project
was a collaborative effort with a familiar kitchen
designer. The homeowners wanted a contemporary kitchen
with clean lines, excellent appliances, improved storage,
a desk, a pantry area and a new breakfast bar area.
The goal was to integrate a variety finishes including
stone, wood, glass, tile and stainless steel. However,
the layout was excellent and we only added a breakfast
bar to the island feature. The existing kitchen was
predominantly white which reminded the homeowner, an
orthodontist, too much of her workplace environment
when in her kitchen.
Unusual Constraints/Challenges & Creative Solutions
This was our first project
in over 15 years of business where the homeowner
wanted to integrate glass into
areas of their kitchen other than door fronts. Collaborating
with the designer and our glass specialist, we created
a curved ¾” glass flyover breakfast bar
mounted to a stone island top. This required special
chrome hardware and carefully frosting the bottom of
the glass to accent the natural lead green color. We
also worked with our glass specialist to craft frosted ¼ inch
glass back splashes. Notice the stainless steel grommets;
cover plates and special order “sea foam green” electrical
devices.
Overall Results
The customer selecting
specific slabs of stone months before they were needed
created another challenge.
Understanding exactly how the stone counter business
works and having an excellent stone fabricator enabled
us to make sure the customer was completely satisfied
with their kitchen countertops.
