Dupont Circle, DC - Kitchen Remodel
Brief Explanation of the Scope
of Work
The client wanted to completely reconfigure the kitchen,
including all plumbing and gas lines. The goal was
to open it up to the rest of the house (see before picture below). This kitchen, designed by Jennifer Gilmer Kitchens, was part of a larger job designed
by Richard Zambito Architects.
Unusual Constraints/Challenges & Creative Solutions
The design exposed an existing structural steel column
(visible in lower picture on the left). Disc-sanding the column
added a modern, industrial look to the kitchen. The
professional range hood vents up through the roof.
It has a remote fan to minimize noise.
We added a warm-to-the-touch
kitchen floor, accentuated by installing the floor
tiles on a slightly rotated
grid (see Tile Layout below on the left). 16”x16” linoleum
was selected and installed in a checkered pattern.

Overall Results
The resulting kitchen, with its blond cabinets and
honed Absolute Black granite, is much more in keeping
with the work of French architect, Le Corbusier.
