On the second floor, they wanted a master bedroom and master bathroom suite accented by a gas fireplace. The original bathroom on the second floor also needed to be replaced.

The clients decided a semi-finished basement under the new addition would be ued for a laundry/ workshop/ storage area with a new reworked stair easement off the side of the addition. The old basement would be finished and made into a den/ office/ guest bedroom with a new bathroom.

After a review of the cost, the clients decided to go with brick rather than siding, to match the existing house. Weathersheld windows and door were selected. The addition, which maximized the building lot occupancy, was 18 feet, the width of the house and 15 feet deep.
