The client’s specific requirements and how we met them:

1) Create a space she really enjoyed being in. This was achieved by redesigning the long narrow original bath into an open, light filled one.

2) Coordinate the finishes, colors and textures thoughtfully. The owner invested a great deal of attention to the color pallet. tiles, mosaic boarder, tumbled marble chair rail and sile stone tops were selected to span a specific color range. Custom-built cabinets were carefully painted and glazed to match ones the client saw elsewhere. The faux painted walls drew on the pallet and added texture. Coordinating brushed nickel and gold plumbing fixtures, accessories and the wall sconces helped bring the whole project together.

3) Save space at the doorway to the new bathroom. Planning for a pocket door did this. However, implementing the door was harder than we expected as the wall had to remain standard thickness and the shower wall was tiled along the inside. Special care was required to add strength and keep workman from nailing or screwing into the pocket door.

4) Give me some WOW. When considering the shower door in the design phase, the traditional frameless glass enclosure did not achieve an upper case wow. However, adding the sandblasted, chipped edge design on an angle (seen by the customer at Home EXPO’s show room in Fairfax, VA) did prove to be worth the additional expense.
