The Landis firm has more than 40 employees that include award-winning architects, kitchen and bath designers, project managers, carpenters, electricians, and plumbers. Ethan Landis went to Swarthmore College and holds an MBA from GWU. He has extensive experience in design/build remodeling and doing cost benefit analysis of residential real estate development. He works closely with sales and production management. He is LEED-AP certified and sits on the District’s Construction Code Coordinating Board (CCCB) and is working closely with the city to adopt the IgCC and the IECC 2012. He also is a member of the Mayor’s Green Building Advisory Board that helps oversee DC’s Green Building Act. He and his firm have received two Mayor’s Sustainability Awards for their leadership.

Chris Landis is a registered architect in four states (MD, DC, VA, NY). He graduated with a B.A. from Vassar College and a M.A. in Architecture from Columbia Architecture School (1977-1980). He is a member of the AIA, and has 24 years of experience in residential architecture. He is a past board member of the DC Historic Preservation Review Board and Past President of the DC Metro area chapter of NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry).

Paul is a registered architect and has designed over 600 additions and new houses over his 22 year career in private practice. He holds a Masters of Architecture from Tulane University, and has won over a dozen design awards from the American Institute of Architects, Qualified Remodeler and Remodeling Magazines, and has been published in Better Homes and Gardens, Home and Design, and other publications. Recent design work includes a super-insulated new home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware utilizing Passive House design principles. Andrew Kerr has been with Landis Construction since 2001. Prior to working at Landis, Andrew held a position as a PM at Centex Homes managing construction for new homes and also worked at the White House for the National Security Council. Armin Bondoc joined Landis Construction Corporation in 2002. He has since raised the standard of the Design department. His designs have won numerous awards both locally and nationally and have been published in home magazines and trade publications. He has over 20 yr. of architectural design, as well as TV and radio commercial advertisement production & merchandising. His well – rounded approach to design has fulfilled or exceeded his client’s expectations. His artistic sensibilities have also given the client a great environment to live in. Tahani, a native of Amman, Jordan, graduated in architecture from the University of Jordan. While still in Jordan, she worked for Apple Computers doing computer training and technical support and then for a graphic design firm. Reflecting her love of historic architecture, she received an MA in Historic Preservation from the University of MD School of Architecture. Before joining Landis, she was with Drysdale Interior Design, a MD design/build firm, and a residential architectural design firm in College Park, MD. She served on the design committee for the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Barracks Row Main Street project.

After getting his bachelors degree in Architecture from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2002, Pak spent the next 8 years working for several architecture firms as an individual subcontractor, mainly focused on high end residential remodeling. As a CAD Specialist, Pak specializes in 3D models and construction drawing sets for building permit application. With his computer science background, Pak is also working on the company website and helping as an IT assistant in Landis Construction.

Melvin has been at Landis for over 2 years and serves as assistant project manager/designer and permit specialist. He’s the one that puts together the permit applications in D.C, Maryland, and Virginia to make the process go as swiftly as possible. He is an honorably discharged Navy veteran. He was a carpenter in California and also a crane operator. He learned CAD & drafting when studying architecture. He builds model dollhouses for his daughters and granddaughters.

As director of marketing, Nina Patel promotes our design/build, green, and historic, renovations, through public relations, marketing, and social media. She joined Landis in October 2013. She is a former writer/editor at Remodeling magazine. She has 20 years of experience writing about design, building, and construction. She has also written freelance stories for Home magazine, USA Today’s Home publication, At Home with Century 21, and Date Lab in the Washington Post. She is an avid do-it-yourselfer and always has a project going on. She brakes at flea markets and garage sales where she searches for interesting furniture pieces to refinish.

David came to us most recently from another DC construction firm having steadily migrated south from his native New York. He brings a background and education in fine arts and interior design and is an Allied ASID member. At Landis he bridges the Design and Construction sides of the firm—he sees the designers ideas come to life and then helps realize them—ordering and advising on project finish materials and then monitoring the cost, delivery and quantity of these materials. Ken started young building models and forts. He always had a proclivity for creating substantial things and never lost that zeal. It led him naturally to the remodeling industry. After 11 years as an apprentice carpenter, Ken and his business partner subcontracted high-end carpentry in Montgomery Co. and DC for 26 years. He joined Landis in 2012 because their core values match his own. Ken lives in the agricultural preserve with his wife and son in an arts and crafts style home of his own design. Ken’s work has received numerous NARI awards and can be spotted in Architectural Digest and Southern Living.

Eugene/Tito has lived most his life in Montgomery County. It was a great place to grow up and he spent a lot of time outside building tree forts and tinkering with things. By age 17, he had a job building many of the new houses in the county. He loved it, he was hooked. At age 20, he went into remodeling, because it was more creative and challenging. He also enjoyed interacting and working with homeowners envisioning and helping realize their dreams. Eugene has been very fortunate to work with some of the best builders in the area. He’s been with Landis Construction since 2012 and it’s turned out to be one of the best firms he has ever worked for!

Carlos was born in Guatemala, where at the age of 14 he began working as a welder. He moved to the United States in 1985 and began his career in construction. In the summer of 2005 he began working for Landis Construction. During his time with the company he trained to become a certified lead carpenter. Carlos likes to work on his cars and new motorcycle on his spare time.

Matt is a licensed master plumber in Maryland and Washington, D.C. He joined Landis in 2012. He has worked as a plumber since 1986 and is highly knowledgeable and experienced with most aspects of plumbing including cast iron boilers, high efficiency boilers, indirect fired water heaters, radiators, and on-demand water heaters. He enjoys challenging projects.

Alvaro grew up near San Francisco, but moved to Maryland in 2000. One of his early jobs in this area was building cell phone towers. Yup, he was one of the ones that would hang from a few hundred feet up. He took an interest in the electrical side of the installation, and then went to work for an electrical company. He is now a Master Electrician—which requires 8 years of experience. He joined Landis in 2014. He and his wife have a 9-month old son. Their Boston terrier, Milano, also requires a lot of their attention. Alvaro is very meticulous with his work. His one pet peeve with outlets in a backsplash? They have to line up with the cabinetry.

Denjar is an Agronomy Engineer in his native land of Nicaragua. He also dabbled a bit with civil engineering since it ran in the family. After coming to the states he began working at Landis Construction in late 2005 as a carpenter. During that year he began his studies in electrical school while still working for us. After four years he officially finished his studies and currently heads the electrical department for Landis.

His first position was as a drywall finisher and carpenter. Throughout the years he has learned framing, painting and is now currently in our electrical division. He has a BA in Architecture from Lehigh University, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Maryland. He’s worked for Landis since January 2017. He is married with 3 young children and lives in Rockville. His hobby was alternative fuels and he successfully ran his GMC Suburban on vegetable oil for 8 years. He and his wife had five dogs for 17 years but they’ve all passed. Since they couldn’t envision living in a dog-less home, they brought home 2 rescue dogs last year. Ryan has seven years of experience in HVAC systems and some electrical skills. Since joining us in 2016, he’s adding plumbing to his skill set. His favorite part of a job is troubleshooting a system that is not working. He lives in Silver Spring with his wife and daughter and awaiting the birth of his son. He is an avid soccer fan. Manchester United is his favorite team.
Faris is the brother of Fayig Mustafa, who brought him to the company in 2016. Prior to that, he served four years in the Navy. He enjoys the finish carpenter part of remodeling projects. His dog Waylon is named after his favorite country singer – Waylon Jennings. Prior to joining Landis 2 years ago, Zach worked for worked for F O’Day Inc. as an asphalt and machinery worker. He’s the son of lead carpenter Art Booth and has been learning about carpentry from his Dad since he was five years old. He really enjoys installing interior trim and molding. He lives on Solomon’s Island and spends weekends outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping on or near the Patuxent River.

Ramiro is a seasoned professional with 30 years of carpentry experience, doing everything in new construction and remodeling from framing and foundations to trim and decks. Chris Williams joined Landis in 2015. He has 25 years of experience in residential construction, including designing/estimating small kitchens to $15 million new homes. He enjoys working with 3D modeling because it provides realistic views for clients and it offers seamless coordination from design to construction. He started out studying engineering at the University of Maryland, but switched to architecture. He lives in Hyattsville with his wife. One of his sons recently graduated from the Naval Academy; the other attends UMBC. For the past 4 years he’s served as a mentor for St. John’s High School’s robotics team.
