Landis Construction did a whole house renovation at my home in the District of Columbia. The design process was so easy for me, a busy professional. I gave them my general desires and they offered a few alternatives and very understandable explanations of the advantages/ disadvantages of each. The designers chose affordable "green" and sustainable materials that were both inexpensive and attractive. On more than a few occasions, people touring the renovation have exclaimed over how elegant and sumptuous the bathroom looks. The new kitchen, dining room and living area is so welcoming that several social groups to which I belong have asked to return and have cooked the meal here, just for the privilege of meeting here, and cooking in the efficiently laid out kitchen. I am in love with my new walk in closet with laundry.
Landis was easy to work with and responded quickly to any calls or questions. Andrew, the construction manager was organized and kept the project on track. He was unflappable in the face of the usual unexpected complications one encounters in renovations, and kept me apprised of problems and solutions.
Landis is very interested in green construction, and went the extra miles with me in finding an affordable geothermal HVAC installer. Arturo, the lead carpenter, did very fine work and had incredible attention to detail. The construction was on time and under budget, and I have not had a problem I the first 6 months living it. I very much appreciated how well Landis worked with my finance provider. I have done several construction projects on previous homes, including a whole house renovation. This was by far the easiest. I will use Landis again for my basement rehab.

We were very happy with the work Landis Construction did for us.

We wanted more space and given the odd shape of our lot, we needed to build out to the side and could not add in the back. Since our lot is on the corner, the addition would be very visible on all sides. Landis did a fantastic job to make sure the addition looked like part of the original house and not something that was added later. Their skill and design ideas on the interior were superb. We had a lot of ideas before we started the project; they took those ideas and helped us really build on them to make a beautiful and wonderful living space. No one believes us when we tell them that they finished a few weeks ahead of schedule. We would certainly work with Landis again.

"Thank you so much for pouring on the effort on Thursday and Friday - the crowds of workmen really blew through all the remaining chores and accomplished a huge amount. I really appreciate your sending your crew over yesterday to get the basement back in order and they did a great job. The painters and the electricians were also terrific. (All your employees and subs seem like incredibly nice people!) We really love the room - it is so beautiful in so many ways. The coffered ceiling it just so cool, we will be playing with the lighting for months. If buying a house built in 1947 in Bethesda wasn't scary enough, how about settling your nerves with all the horror stories when you have to start looking for a builder/contractor! That could not have been further from the truth with Landis Construction.

The only problem on the project was when I thought I could save some time and money by taking on some of the buying (tiles and fixtures) myself even after seeing your detailed plans and budgets for the layout, buying, subcontracting and building. I should have listened to Andrew! Thanks for dispelling the rumors, great work and get ready for the kitchen (phase II) in a couple of months!.

I wanted to make a moment to let you know how very pleased I am with my beautiful new kitchen, bath and sitting room. I have heard so many horror stories about major construction projects. What I have never heard is a claim to have had a near perfect experience with a totally professional, reliable, and enormously talented crew.

Certainly, many individuals are responsible for contributing to such a great end product, but, no one more so than Carlos Marin. His level of commitment to the total project and attention to every detail waws far more than I expected. He kept an eye on every element of the entire project to ensure that I never saw another mouse as I was. Most importantly, he is an absolutely wonderful person. I never saw him without a smile and he treated everyone, regardless of their role in the project, with respect and appreciation for their work. When my dog became ill during the project and left Carlos a couple of unfortunate surprises, he handled it with remarkable equanimity. When he found that the lock on my outside gate had broken. he fixed it without even letting me know. I had to ask him who my "guardian angel" was.

I adore my new house and am the envy of all my friends. As I contemplate renovating the upstairs, my only request is that I get to work with Carlos again. He is a gem. Many thanks for everything and I wish you continued success with your incredible company.
