The original kitchen was tiny, set in the center of the house, and flanked by two smaller living areas at the front and back. The family wanted a larger kitchen that was connected to the back deck. Relocating the kitchen along the entire back of the house provided that connection to the deck and allowed for an expanded kitchen with an island large enough for food prep and for seating.
