A right-sized addition on the side of this 1940s Silver Spring house allowed us to create a beautiful and functional kitchen and add a well-proportioned island that works for the couple for a night at home or when entertaining friends. One side is the working area with the stove and refrigerator. The other side of the L-shaped kitchen has a large double wall oven with a drawer underneath for baking supplies. The new kitchen has great flow and connection to the rest of the house. Additionally, the elegant arched window floods the room with natural light and echoes the arched opening between the kitchen and dining room.
