Brief Explanation of the Scope of Work

The owners of this contemporary home in Virginia wanted to update their existing first floor bathroom so that it worked well as a sleek and spa-like guest bathroom and powder room.

The original bathroom had been designed around a square kidney shaped cast iron soaking tub which the homeowners did not want to keep. In order to create the necessary depth for a more conventionally rectangular tub, we integrated a portion of an adjacent bedroom’s closets into the far end of the bathroom. The choice of a wall mounted Duravit dual-flush toilet with its in-wall tank produced the necessary circulation corridor within the bathroom.

Finishes were carefully coordinated and professionally installed to create a unique and aesthetically Zen-like space.

* The texture and gravity of a natural stacked stone wall, immediately visible upon entering the space, is counterbalanced by the calm sea stones of large format Porcelanosa Glass Acido tiles at the tub surround.
*In one wall evokes mountains and the others the sea, the Porcelanosa Silk Blanco floor and tub skirt tiles evoke sand.
* A custom made floating vanity with book matched walnut veneer adds warmth and life to the space.
* Caesarstone thickened edge vanity top and tub deck tie together these elevations.
*Careful attention was taken with the plumbing fixtures to coordinate the aesthetic. The square Kohler “Purist” vessel sink, the Grohe “Allure” lavatory faucet and Purist tub set including deck mounted hand-shower coordinate with the frameless glass shower door hardware.
*A backlit mirror washes the stone wall with light and square recessed lights from Thomas Lighting ensure the entire space is well lit.
* Visitors to this sleek and inviting bathroom have described it as a “deconstructed seaside resort”.
