Why Landis
Why Landis
We are Architects and Builders: Let’s build it together.
Landis Architects/Builders is one of Washington DC area’s top design/build firms.  It’s run by two principals who are brothers. One principal heads up design, the other heads up construction. We provide strong oversight of projects with in-house team leaders, project managers and lead carpenters, as well as in-house plumbing and electrical departments. For 27 years, we’ve successfully completed complicated jobs in three jurisdictions.

Much of our business comes from referrals and repeat work, so we strive to build long-term relationships with our customers and delight them with the craftsmanship, attention to detail and professionalism we deliver.

We are committed to our industry, our craft, and your home.

Landis, unlike most other design/build firms, has an in-house design team led by registered architects.

Ethan Landis

After graduating from Swarthmore College and then getting his MBA from George Washington University, Ethan and Chris started the business, first as a developer/general contractor, which then evolved to design/build specialists. He enjoys working with the Landis team to offer creative design solutions and to make built environments lovely, comfortable, and sustainable for owners to live in for many years to come. He is also passionate about helping homeowners create long-term value in their primary residence.

Ethan leads the production team including, plumbing, and electrical divisions. Ethan has long been driven to give back to the city in ways to help the renovation and construction industry for more than a decade, he was part of the DC Mayor’s Green Building Advisory Council and as a former board member of the Construction Codes Coordinating Board (CCCB) in DC’s Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs. He is also committed to promoting the restoration and maintenance of park space and is on the Rock Creek Conservancy board.
