Our Leadership

Team Leader (TL) – The Team Leader (TL) is the first point of contact and stays with the project through its duration. As an executive level manager who has an extensive background in both architecture and construction, he/she oversees the continuity of the construction as it relates to the design, the overall quality of the construction, and closely monitors the satisfaction of the client(s).

As an optional service We can offer to add a Design Administrator to supervise design in lieu of construction management by the Architect or Designer.

Design Administrator (DA) – The design administrator also has an extensive background in both Architecture and construction. The DA works directly with the TL with a hands-on approach to the overall management of the project. For all arising issues, on a day to day basis, he oversees the project, working directly with the Project Manager and the client.

Project Manager (PM) – The PM is the direct contact between the client and the day-to-day details of the project. Meeting with the client on a weekly basis, he/she maintains the schedule and all administrative management duties. He insures quality and is the primary manager during the construction phase.

Lead Carpenter (LC) – The Lead Carpenter is the daily on-site tradesman who sees to it that the project is run smoothly each day and is kept on schedule. He/she is responsible for the security of the property, coordination of trades and oversees the quality of the construction.

Crew/Subs – Landis will staff each project based on its specific need. Some in-house trades will be involved as well as specialized trade partners or sub-contractors. We take great pride in the relationships we have established with a select group of sub-contractors, many of which have worked with Landis for years.

Director of Production – All production within Landis is overseen by our Director of Production. He is responsible for the maintaining our in-house schedule, seeing to it that our resources are allocated most effectively. He will also step in to help with areas of management and client relations that need special attention.

Estimator – Our estimator will be the one who writes all estimates, contracts, change orders and legal language as it pertains to each project.

Our Commitment to Sustainable Construction

Landis has been and will continue to be a firm with a passion for sustainable construction.

Our corporate headquarters in Takoma Park was constructed by us in 2005. Our three story building is heated and cooled with the use of Geo-thermal technology. Twenty-two wells, each reaching 275 feet in depth, are hidden beneath our front parking lot. The office space include low VOC paints, bamboo flooring and recycled carpeting. Jobsite trash separation, the use of no-VOC adhesives and FSC lumber packages are a few of our standard building practices.

Whether the project is in line for a LEED certification or the client wants sensible low-impact construction, we will provide consultation to the client and tailor our process to meet their sustainable construction goals.

Our staff Green specialist, Russ Clark, is consistently reviewing new product and building methods to insure Landis is at the forefront of Green building technologies. Not only do we pass these practices to the field, but we follow them within our own company culture with aggressive recycling and reuse programs for client’s unwanted materials and appliances.

Landis has recently been recognized by Mayor Fenty for its efforts in bringing about DC’s first LEED for Homes Platinum certification with the remodel of a Georgetown residence.

Making your job easier

Permitting, Zoning and Historic Applications

One of the most time consuming and daunting tasks of architecture and construction can be the permit process. We offer to have the legwork and application process handled by our in-house permit specialist. He is not only very familiar with the different permitting departments in DC, VA and Maryland, but he also has extensive experience with zoning and historic hearing presentations. For clients that are seeking a special exception or variance, this option can be very appealing.

Infill design & drafting services (let our in-house design services help you focus on what you do best)

Each Architect or Designer has areas in which they specialize, some want to handle all aspects of the design including working drawings and finish selections whereas others want only to produce the working drawings. Some choose to have an outside kitchen designer handle the specific details of the kitchen elements including specifications for cabinetry and appliance placement and selection.

Landis is a dealer for Wellborn Cabinet and Allmilmo Cabinet, both are high quality cabinetry manufacturers. Our in-house designers can assist you with your project in design or the cabinetry order itself. By Landis purchasing direct, the client ends up with a high quality cabinet at mid level pricing. To insure the specific cabinet selection is exactly what the client wants, a custom door and drawer front is made in their desired style and finish.

Finish Selections

Our finish and sample library is always changing and houses a wide variety of traditional and contemporary samples. We know that for some, product showrooms can be an overwhelming experience; in many cases confusing the client with too many options. If the need arises, we have the ability to assist in finish selection by either building presentation boards or simply by inviting you and your client to browse our library.

Meeting Spaces

Our offices include two well appointed common areas which we regularly use for team and client meetings. Our main conference room is equipped with conference call capabilities and can comfortably seat 10 people. Our Media Room, which is currently under construction, will be a relaxed environment for reviewing documents and finishes via two 42” wall mounted flat screen displays. Both rooms can be combined to accommodate large scale seminars or meetings. Our design partners regularly utilize these spaces to meet with their clients.

If the need presents itself, we have the ability to assist you with your CAD drafting needs. From full construction document sets to renderings or elevations, we can augment your process as needed.
