The owner of this Foxhall residence approached us after he inherited a pool table, but had nowhere to place it. He decided to transform his basement into a large and comfortable entertainment/pool room.
The owner of this residence inherited a chrome and black pool table, but had no space for it in his home. He decided to finish his basement to create an entertainment area/pool room. We also remodeled the existing bathroom.
The existing basement was dark and cramped, with many small rooms. The owner had to walk through the laundry area to reach the bathroom.
We removed several walls to create one large game room. We moved the bathroom door to provide direct access. We created a beautiful bar area by installing oak cabinets with glass doors, lighting, and cubbyholes for wine bottles. The backsplash is mosaic tile. We reused the owner’s wine refrigerator, added a sink, and used granite for the countertops. For a true media room experience, we wired the basement for speakers and placed the audio/video equipment on custom built-in shelves. The floor tile is large Porcelanosa ceramic slate-look tile–we used the same tiles for the fireplace surround. The bathroom has the same tile floor and the mosaics used in the bar area.
The owner can use the low-voltage and pendant lighting to set the mood for many different entertainment activities.
The owner is happy to have this finished basement to entertain and to relax. The pool table has found a great home–as has the homeowner’s wine collection.
