Emily Sholder, AIA

Emily, originally from Pittsburgh, moved to the DC area for her first job out of college. She comes to us from a small architecture firm where she worked primarily on community focused design. Growing up, she spent a lot of time around historic houses and was always drawing buildings. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be an architect. Her favorite part of the design process is creating inspiration and finish boards. In her free time she enjoys gardening, baking and cooking, and has a vast collection of cookbooks. She loves being in the mountains hiking with her Mini Australian Labradoodle named Rhubarb, or biking on the DMV trails.

Juan Barberena

Juan grew up in Granada, Nicaragua (a Spanish colonial city), and then eventually moved to the DMV to be with his family. Juan is passionate about architecture because he loves how it represents the union between ideas and actions, and art and science.

Before Landis, Juan worked in many construction branches, such as design, site supervision, project management, estimation, and more! There is no specific task in a job that is Juan’s favorite, he values the satisfaction of solving problems to his best.

Outside of work, Juan is a family man, he loves spending time with his daughters, and Yorkshire terrier. He is also passionate about history and enjoys learning about the past to help him understand today’s world and the future.

Emily Strawser

Emily was born and raised in Orange County, Va. Emily has always enjoyed designing and rearranging spaces from an early age. But it wasn’t until her second year of community college that she made the decision to go into the interior design field. Emily then went on to attend Liberty University where she received her B.S. in Interior Design. After graduation, Emily moved to Northern Virginia, where she began working as a kitchen and bath designer in Falls Church.

Emily’s favorite part of her work is when she is putting together layouts and designs in Chief Architect, as that is when she feels her most creative.

Outside of work you can find Emily at the gym, playing volleyball, trying new restaurants, or cheffing it up at home!

Alina Andreiko

Alina joined Landis in January 2022. She is originally from Kyiv, Ukraine. Prior to joining Landis she was an interior designer at WISA Solutions, a home improvement company. She is inspired by modern European home design and enjoys selecting materials and visualizing how the final project will look. In her spare time, she travels, creates illustrations on her Ipad, and plays with her kittens Bagheera (black panther) and Kuyza (a Russian cartoon character). She attended the James Madison University and now lives in Arlington. She loves the area because it’s a lively community with a great restaurant scene.
