Ryan Landis

Ryan Landis discovered a passion for design his senior year of high school. His interests in the outdoors, cooking, music, skiing, and architecture led him to pursue a degree in Environmental Design, emphasis in Architecture, from the University of Colorado Boulder. After 10 years working in both residential and commercial architecture, he returned home to his native DC. He is the youngest son of Co-founder Chris Landis and brother of Kyle Landis. As the newest of our project designers, he develops construction documents and is involved in every facet of the design process from historic to modern renovations.

Emily Sholder, AIA

Emily, originally from Pittsburgh, moved to the DC area for her first job out of college. She comes to us from a small architecture firm where she worked primarily on community focused design. Growing up, she spent a lot of time around historic houses and was always drawing buildings. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be an architect. Her favorite part of the design process is creating inspiration and finish boards. In her free time she enjoys gardening, baking and cooking, and has a vast collection of cookbooks. She loves being in the mountains hiking with her Mini Australian Labradoodle named Rhubarb, or biking on the DMV trails.

Juan Barberena

Juan grew up in Granada, Nicaragua (a Spanish colonial city), and then eventually moved to the DMV to be with his family. Juan is passionate about architecture because he loves how it represents the union between ideas and actions, and art and science.

Before Landis, Juan worked in many construction branches, such as design, site supervision, project management, estimation, and more! There is no specific task in a job that is Juan’s favorite, he values the satisfaction of solving problems to his best.

Outside of work, Juan is a family man, he loves spending time with his daughters, and Yorkshire terrier. He is also passionate about history and enjoys learning about the past to help him understand today’s world and the future.
