Shepherd Park Modern Retreat

This renovation reimagined a classic Shepherd Park colonial, blending transitional design with modern comfort to create a home that feels brighter, more open, and thoughtfully refined. By reconfiguring the layout and updating key architectural details, we transformed a traditional space into a cohesive, contemporary retreat tailored to modern living.

On the main level, we opened the walls between the entry, living, and dining rooms to enhance sightlines and create a more connected flow between spaces. New crown molding upgraded door casings, and a coffered ceiling in the dining room add subtle architectural interest, while a darker wood floor stain, and a new lighting plan bring warmth and sophistication throughout. A custom coffee / wine bar near the stairwell adds a moment of function and visual appeal. The powder room was completely redesigned with elevated finishes and fixtures that make a lasting impression. With rich tones, tailored details, and a contemporary edge, it now functions as a polished jewel box within the home—balancing style and function for both guests and daily use.

Upstairs, we reimagined the primary suite by expanding the bathroom into the adjacent bedroom to accommodate a generous double vanity and a large, tiled shower with a built-in bench and recessed niches. The updated layout creates a spa-like escape that balances luxury with practicality. In the primary bedroom, a new paneled feature wall adds dimension and character.

In the third-floor attic, we removed an outdated cedar closet to open up the space and introduced crisp finishes to create a light-filled, contemporary home office that feels both inviting and productive.

From structural layout shifts to refined finish selections, every element of this renovation was designed to elevate the everyday experience. The result is a home that honors the original charm of its architecture while embracing a more modern, highly livable aesthetic.
