This Woodley Park home underwent another thoughtful Landis renovation that balanced modern improvements with a nod to the home and homeowners' character. The centerpiece of the project was a full kitchen remodel within the existing footprint, maintaining the original layout while enhancing functionality and aesthetic appeal. Subtle modifications included reworking the cabinetry in the nook adjacent to the powder room, rebuilding the jamb on the door between the kitchen and dining room, and reinstalling the original butler’s door to honor the home’s heritage. The exterior kitchen door was also replaced to improve durability and performance.
In the living room, the fireplace and surrounding built-ins were renovated to restore their original charm. We uncovered and restored the covered windows flanking the fireplace, bringing in natural light and reconnecting the room to its architectural roots. Additional updates throughout the main floor included installing new light fixtures in the living room, replacing the front door, renovating the coat closet, and updating the HVAC registers.
